Orchestration and Resilience with Open Source
As organizations implement multi-tier architecture consisting of several applications and technologies, higher vulnerabilities or availability issues between tiers are bound to surface. Failures in downstream system can start a dominoes effect to bring the entire application down and un-estimated load can make revival very challenging. The most significant achievement of Cloud Computing is the ability to provision any new infrastructure or service down right on “Day Zero”. Open Stack being a free open source cloud computing platform has opened the doors for a wide variety of innovation leading to the rapid deployment of infrastructure resources as well as large enterprise applications running over them, with reduced overheads and time to market. The solution demonstrated in this paper provides an insight into how Open Stack Heat can be used as the core orchestration engine, to automate deployment of complex distributed application components with dynamic auto-scaling of clusters based on workload demands.
